The Club Board continues to monitor the COVID guidelines on a regular basis. Following the move into Tier 4, we are unable to run any adult hockey activities.
The COVID situation in Sevenoaks is not improving. We feel that to try and run junior hockey activities at this time would counteract what the government is trying to achieve by delaying the start of term. Our junior hockey activities are usually aligned with school terms, and therefore there will be no junior training on 2nd / 3rd January or 9th / 10th January. We will review the situation by 10th January and provide a further update then.
England Hockey Guidelines
We'd like everyone to understand what the England Hockey (EH) guidelines under Tier 4 mean for the club. The guidelines are split between adults and juniors (U18). With Tier 4, adult hockey is put into Step 1 which allows 1-1 coaching or play within a family bubble. Under 18 hockey is permitted to continue in Step 4 which allows for normal training and 'local' matches if clubs can facilitate these activities.
Neither of the above guidelines permit travel between different Tier 4 areas. Neither adult nor junior members who live in London, Surrey, Bromley, Sussex or further afield are allowed to travel to Sevenoaks.
Sevenoaks Hockey Club Activities
With yesterday’s announcement that primary schools in Sevenoaks are to remain closed until 18th January and that secondary schools nationwide are to delay their return to the same date, sadly we feel we are unable to restart hockey activities at the moment.
We realise that members may be disappointed to not be able to train or play. The committee wants to get members back on the pitch as soon as possible but sadly this is just not sensible at the moment. We hope that you understand the reasons behind the decision and support us in taking this tough decision to not restart.
We hope to see you back on the pitch in the not-too-distant future. Stay Safe.
