We are very sad to inform members that Richard Raikes, a much-loved member of both our cricket and hockey clubs, has passed away.

Richard was one of those pillars of the Vine Club, a prominent member and Vice President of the Vine Cricket Club, and a stalwart member of the hockey club with a hockey playing career spanning more than 20 years. Affectionately known as “Raikesy”, he was a popular member of several hockey teams, especially “Hilder’s Heroes” (5XI), and a regular participant in the Club’s Easter tours to Bournemouth. A very good friend and playing partner to many, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service will be held at Bluebell Cemetery Crematorium at 1.30pm on Wednesday 17 June, followed by a wake at the Vine Pavilion. All are welcome at both the crematorium and the wake.

The Club sends its deepest sympathy to Richard’s family at this sad time.
