Saturday evening saw Sevenoaks return to Hollybush Lane to face Oxford Hawkes after a good win on the road away at Bath last weekend. 
Oaks started well and dominated possession, but Oxford looked dangerous on the counter and picked up several short corners early on. Kieran Walton picked one on the line with the rebound well saved by Richard Potton low down to his left. Eventually after an early break at a short corner reduced the defence to three, one of the Oxford flickers was able to find the top corner. Oaks showed great fight hitting back almost immediately with some quick thinking at a free hit by Craig Morton finding a great run by Ben Selby at the far post for him to tap in levelling the score. More resolute defending from both sides, including three goal line clearances by the Oxford defence, saw a tight finish to the half until man of the match Paul MacLeod put Oaks 2-1 ahead just before the break with a well taken snap shot into the bottom corner.
The second half started in a similar vain with Oaks dominating possession. Oxford however continued to carry a threat and soon won a short corner which was dispatched hard into the net to equal the score line. Oaks responded brilliantly again with new South African recruit Ryan Mann turning the defence inside out, resulting in a penalty stroke calmly dispatched by Ben Allberry. Oaks didn’t look back and maintained their momentum with a second for Allberry, followed by a short corner well taken by Walton high into the net after a great counter by Matt Morey, and the performance capped off with a first outdoor goal for the club by Ryan Mann. The final score of 6-2 following last week’s victory puts Oaks in a good position for their long away trip to Bristol next Sunday.
