On a crisp Saturday night Sevenoaks men travelled to a hostile Polo farm for a tough Kent derby against Canterbury. On the back of several good performances Oaks were keen to maintain their winning run, a tough ask against a quick and combative Canterbury side.
The start of the game started at blistering pace with a lot of midfield battles emerging. Canterbury took an early lead when a shot was squeezed in Potten’s near post. Oaks came back into the game and produced a devastating quick break leading to Warrington finding Allberry unmarked in the circle and he despatched a squeeze into the roof of the net. The scores stayed the same until half time.
In the second half a poor 10 minutes saw Oaks concede three goals. This left Oaks with a mountain to climb. They gave it their best and put extensive pressure on the Canterbury circle. Charlie Brooks, pounced on a rebound to get his first senior goal and then this was followed by man of the match Ben Selby guiding a bouncing shot into the bottom corner to make it 4-3 and all to play for. Unfortunately a lack of discipline meant Oaks played the rest of ten players.
The game finished 4-3 and Oaks must now look to bounce back against Teddington next weekend.
