This weekend Sevenoaks welcomed a strong Wimbledon side to Hollybush Lane for their season opener. The game started with an even first half, with both teams applying lots of pressure. Sevenoaks had some brilliant build up play and some quality chances but couldn’t yet find a gap so the first quarter ended goalless. Towards the end of the second quarter Jen Wilson managed to find Tilly Fox on the far post who made it 1-0. Emily Barrett showcased some excellent 3D skills on the baseline whilst the back line were solid in defence. Their lead extended at a short corner when man of the match Lily Elliot slotted it straight into the bottom right corner, putting them in a very strong position before the half time whistle.
Sevenoaks started the second half with some beautiful team play, making connections all over the pitch leading to their third goal, an open play goal from Jen Wilson, deflecting the ball in from in front of the goalkeeper. The team continued to dominate the second half with multiple short corner opportunities. The game ended with a final goal starting from Tash beating 2 defenders to cross it in from the top of the D to Tilly Fox on the far post to make it 4-0. This exciting team welcomed debutants Mckenzie Bell, Cordy Jones and Tash Brennan who all had superb performances.
